Baseball Recap: GV Christian Comes Up Short

GV Christian had lost eight straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-16 to make it nine. They came up short against the Awaken Christian Lions, falling 22-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Guardians of the 22-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Wayne Budd made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of GV Christian's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 1-15 when he doesn't).

As for Awaken Christian, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.

On Awaken Christian's side, they got a massive performance out of Antonio Rubeis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cody Proud, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

While GV Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
