League recap: Cruber throws longest pass in league this season for Nettleton

Fans got a thrill when Dakota Cruber and Jeremy Cook connected against Mantachie. The connection went for 80 yards, the longest such play in 3A Region 4 this season.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Louisville beat Kosciusko 28-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Wildcats.

Nettleton's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cruber threw for 328 and 4 touchdowns and Cook had 185 yards receiving. On the ground Laonta Nabors chipped in 102 yards. Jordan Smith helped Nettleton's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 88 yards.

He went 15-21 with 0 interception.

Cruber put up the best numbers through the air as the Tigers beat the Mustangs. Cruber's favorite target this week was Cook, who caught 6 passes for 185 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Nettleton's Cruber and Levert Jernigan have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Cruber has thrown for 1,496 yards this season, while Jernigan has 40 catches for 590 yards. Demarcus Brooks from Louisville leads the league in rushing with 437 yards.

A big matchup in 3A Region 4 this week will be when Kemper County takes on South Pontotoc. The Wildcats are currently in second, while the Cougars are in fourth.

Kemper County fell to Philadelphia 58-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
