Baseball Recap: Western Takes a Loss

Western was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies.

Western got a good showing from Ryan Schaefer, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Schaefer also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Western is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Everett Suazo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Western's record now sits at 7-10. As for Hewitt-Trussville, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 21-0.

Coincidentally, Western and Hewitt-Trussville will both be playing IMG Academy the next time they take the field. Hewitt-Trussville will head out to face IMG Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Western will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
