Basketball Recap: Peyton Heffelfinger Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lely

Barron Collier's game on Friday was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against the Lely Trojans by a score of 49-37. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Barron Collier to victory, but perhaps none more so than Peyton Heffelfinger, who posted 12 points and four steals. That's the most steals Heffelfinger has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sheila Forbes, who scored five points in addition to six boards and five steals.

Barron Collier's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.5 points per game. As for Lely, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Barron Collier Cougars duke it out with the North Port Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lely, they will welcome East Lee County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
