Basketball Recap: Cane Bay Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cane Bay entered their tilt with Wren on Monday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 58-56 victory over the Wren Hurricanes. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cobras also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Leading Cane Bay to victory were Jarvis Roper and Kevin Dukes. Roper posted 12 points and six steals, while Dukes had 12 points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Roper is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Jayden Waring, who put up seven points.

Cane Bay was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wren only racked up eight assists.

When it comes to explaining why Wren lost, don't look at Abijah Franklin. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 43 points and nine boards. That was a full 76.8% of Wren's points, marking the 13th time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Brannon, who earned eight points and nine rebounds.

Cane Bay pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Wren, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-3.

Cane Bay wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-45 victory against Stall on the 3rd. As for Wren, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-47 win against Fountain Inn on the 7th.
