Basketball Game Preview: Lighthouse Christian Lions vs. Franklin Christian Academy Falcons

The Lighthouse Christian Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Franklin Christian Academy Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Lighthouse Christian is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lighthouse Christian blew Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy out of the water with a 67-24 final score. With the Lions ahead 42-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Lucas Haymer and Kolby Matthews were among the main playmakers for Lighthouse Christian as the former dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds and the latter went 7 for 15 en route to 15 points along with eight boards and three steals. Haymer is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Jalylle Batey-Roberts was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Lighthouse Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy only racked up three assists.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Franklin Christian Academy took on Zion Christian Academy on Friday. Franklin Christian Academy blew past Zion Christian Academy 74-54. The Falcons pushed the score to 55-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Lighthouse Christian's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 23.4 points. As for Franklin Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Lighthouse Christian came up short against Franklin Christian Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2021, falling 57-50. Can Lighthouse Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
