Volleyball Recap: South Bend Saint Joseph Huskies vs. South Bend Riley Wildcats

After flying high against South Bend Adams last Wednesday, South Bend Saint Joseph came back down to earth. The Huskies fell just short of the South Bend Riley Wildcats by a score of 3-2 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Monday.

South Bend Saint Joseph wouldn't go down easily and took South Bend Riley into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-16, 17-25, 22-25, 15-7.

Despite the defeat, South Bend Saint Joseph saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nam Nguyen had nine digs and three aces.

Oscar Coronado went supernova For South Bend Riley., getting 19 digs and four aces. Those 19 digs gave Coronado a new career-high.

South Bend Saint Joseph dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for South Bend Riley, their record now sits at 8-12.
