Basketball Game Preview: Morris Redskins vs. Marmion Cadets

The Morris Redskins will take on the Marmion Cadets in a holiday battle at at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Marmion took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Morris, who comes in off a win.

Morris will head into Friday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 23) and last Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-37 victory over Ottawa. The 39-point effort marked the Redskins' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Marmion came up short against De La Salle on Friday and fell 59-50. While losing is never fun, the Cadets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Meteors are ranked 53rd).

Morris is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Marmion, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Morris was taken down by Marmion 65-36 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Morris avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
