Basketball Recap: Murphy Comes Up Short

Murphy came up into this matchup off a tough 25-point loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Saraland Spartans by a score of 49-46 on Friday. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 43-33.

Saraland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shakira Williams, who posted 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Sadie Knight, who had 11 points.

Murphy now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Saraland, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Murphy Panthers duke it out with the Theodore Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Saraland has already played their next matchup (against Blount), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
