            Softball Recap: Westover Patriots vs. Sumter County Panthers        
        
		
        
        
             Westover was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight  loss. They took  a  10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sumter County Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the  15-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in September of 2022.
  Amaiya Jones made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-3 with a  triple and a  run.  Morgan Polite was another key player,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 Westover's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Sumter County, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record  this season.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westover is on the road again  on Tuesday to play Mitchell County at 5:00  p.m. Mitchell County is coming into the  game with three straight  defeats at home,  meaning Westover will have to defend against a  team hungry for a  victory. As for Sumter County, they will challenge Jordan at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Sumter County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.8  runs per game  this season.
