Softball Recap: Rural Retreat Comes Up Short

Rural Retreat has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 4.07 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They lost 12-2 to the Chilhowie Warriors. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

Rural Retreat's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Chilhowie, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Rural Retreat will challenge rival Patrick Henry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chilhowie is set to square off against their familiar foe Holston at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 3.1, the Cavaliers 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
