Basketball Game Preview: Long Island Lutheran Crusaders vs. Gill St. Bernard's Knights

The Long Island Lutheran Crusaders will square off against the Gill St. Bernard's Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Long Island Lutheran's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches.

Long Island Lutheran is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Sidwell Friends, who was ranked fourth in their home state at the time (Long Island Lutheran was ranked first). Long Island Lutheran fell 67-57 to Sidwell Friends on Sunday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gill St. Bernard's). They claimed a resounding 84-52 win over Hillsborough. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Gill St. Bernard's pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.4 points. As for Long Island Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 15-5 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Long Island Lutheran against Gill St. Bernard's when the teams last played back in February of 2017, as the team secured a 68-40 victory.
