Softball Recap: Beachside Barracudas vs. Matanzas Pirates

Beachside hadn't done well against Matanzas recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Barracudas won by a run and slipped past the Pirates 13-12. With that win, the Barracudas brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Vita Lagattola was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lagattola was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Beachside got a massive performance out of Kyleigh Kendall, who went 5-for-6 with four runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Those five hits gave Kendall a new career-high. Mallie Meadows also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Beachside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Beachside and bumps their season record up to 11-10. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Matanzas, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-11.

As of now, neither Beachside nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
