Basketball Recap: Goldi Aschkenasy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Beachwood over Lutheran West

The matchup between Beachwood and Lutheran West on Monday hardly resembled the 27-24 effort from their previous meeting. The Beachwood Bison fell 60-50 to the Lutheran West Longhorns. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bison this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 27-24 two weeks ago.

Several Bison players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Goldi Aschkenasy, who posted 12 points along with eight boards and five blocks. What's more, Aschkenasy also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lexi Jaffe, who went 5 for 12 en route to 15 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Beachwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Beachwood's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Lutheran West, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

Beachwood has already played their next game, a 43-11 victory against Bard Early College on the 5th. As for Lutheran West, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-43 defeat against Fairview on the 5th.
