With a playoff game on the line, River Road rose to the challenge on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Lamesa Tornadoes out 23-21. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Alex Warren was his usual excellent self, rushing for 193 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. He didn't just play on offense: he also made two total tackles and defended three passes.

River Road wouldn't let Lamesa keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. River Road can thank Jose Espinoza and Ethan Ibarra for forcing both of them.

The win snapped River Road's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-6 record. As for Lamesa, they moved to 4-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
