Baseball Recap: Eastern's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to 12

Eastern extended their postseason success on Saturday against Manchester. They put the hurt on the Squires with a sharp 20-6 win. Considering the Comets have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Perry Kochensparger was a standout: he got on base in all six of his plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four). Jon Warren was another key player, going 2-for-5 with five RBI and two doubles.

Eastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manchester only posted an OBP of .405.

The victory (which was Eastern's 12th in a row) raised their record to 26-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Manchester, they moved to 13-13 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Eastern will square off against Oak Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. Manchester does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
