Football Recap: Hillsborough Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Hillsborough rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They secured a 12-6 W over the Gateway Panthers.

Among those leading the charge was Nydia Sepulveda, who rushed for 59 yards and one TD, and also threw for 87 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards she has posted since back in February.

Hillsborough didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Gateway to a completion percentage of just 47.6%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Sepulveda and Jayla Bass, who each logged two passes deflected. Hillsborough wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 57.9%.

Hillsborough is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for Gateway, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.

Hillsborough wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-0 win against St. Petersburg on the 28th. Gateway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
