Axtell snaps five-game streak of wins at home

Recap: Axtell Longhorns vs. Dawson Bulldogs
The Axtell Longhorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Dawson 49-43. Axtell was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dawson apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Dawson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colby Springer, who scored 22 points. That's the first time this season that Springer scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hastin Easley, who scored 16 points.
Axtell's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9. As for Dawson, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Axtell will take on Hubbard at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Hubbard is ranked 1038th, while Axtell is ranked 1015th). As for Dawson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mart at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Mart comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
