Sylacauga is 0-9 against Central of Clay County since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Sylacauga Aggies will head out on the road to face off against the Central of Clay County Volunteers at 7:00 p.m. Sylacauga, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Central of Clay County's (thus far) undefeated season.

Sylacauga pushed their score all the way to 38 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They and Beauregard were almost perfectly matched up, but Sylacauga suffered an agonizing 39-38 loss.

Given Central of Clay County's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Valley is ranked 83rd), the result wasn't exactly an upset.

Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-0 Trinity Presbyterian and 7-1 Moody (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 84.4% over those games). As for Central of Clay County, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-0.

Sylacauga was dealt a bruising 48-7 defeat at the hands of Central of Clay County in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Sylacauga avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
