Volleyball Recap: Windsor Charter Academy Comes Up Short at Home Against Fort Lupton

Windsor Charter Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Fort Lupton Bluedevils by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Firebirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bluedevils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Windsor Charter Academy actually scored more points across those five sets (103-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-21, 8-25, 25-20, 15-12.

Taylor Smith paced Windsor Charter Academy's offense, picking up eight kills. Smith really made an impact as he also led the team in assists with 11. He was also solid from the service line: he led the team with six aces.

Windsor Charter Academy will look to defend their home court on Monday against STEM School Highlands Ranch at 5:30 p.m. As for Fort Lupton, they will challenge Riverdale Ridge at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
