Baseball Recap: Butler Takes a Loss

If Butler was riding high fresh off their 10-3 takedown of Independence on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs came up short against the Patriots on Monday, falling 12-3. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 10-3.

Butler got a good showing from Jackson Clark, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Clark has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-14 otherwise.

At the plate, Greyson Sheaffer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Independence, they moved to 9-15 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

As of now, neither Butler nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
