Football Game Preview: Friendswood Mustangs vs. Crosby Cougars + How To Watch

The Friendswood Mustangs will square off against the Crosby Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Friendswood is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against La Porte on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Mustangs were dealt a 57-21 defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 107th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crosby). They blew past Pasadena 69-6 on Friday.

Friendswood better keep an eye on Lott Robison. He was instrumental in Crosby's win, throwing for 215 yards and five TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punching in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave Robison a new career-high in passer rating (157.9). T-Zion Sutherland helped Robison out on the ground, rushing for 76 yards and one touchdown.

Crosby's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Cade Wainwright was especially locked on to Pasadena's QB and sacked him twice. Ashton Lemelle was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Friendswood's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Crosby, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Friendswood lost to Crosby at home by a decisive 28-14 margin in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Mustangs, Wesley Yarbrough (who rushed for 304 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
