Football Recap: Central Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Central and Benedictine squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Central had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Cadets and fell 80-32. The loss was the Lions' first of the season.

Central lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was JR Harris, who threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns. Avery Tanner was Harris' top target, picking up two receiving yards.

Benedictine's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stephen Cannon, who rushed for 86 yards and three scores, and also threw for 100 yards on seven of 11 attempts. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Cannon a new career-high. Benedictine's leading receiver Eron Mallard was Cannon's top target yet again, picking up 23 receiving yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Central fell to 12-1. As for Benedictine, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2.

Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Benedictine, they will challenge Marist at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The War Eagles' defense has only allowed 9.2 points per game this season, so the Cadets' offense will have their work cut out for them.
