Baseball Recap: Friona Comes Up Short

Friona extended their losing streak to 14 on Friday, dropping them down to 4-19. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 17-15 heartbreaker at the hands of the Muleshoe Mules. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mules this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-5 back in March.

Friona saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jameson Daniels, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Hector Aguirre was another, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

As for Muleshoe, they moved to 9-15 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

On Muleshoe's side, Jake Villanueva was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Villanueva has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Riley Railsback, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

As of now, neither Friona nor Muleshoe have any future games scheduled.
