Softball Recap: Hanks' Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Hanks's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Pampa Harvesters with a sharp 17-6 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jessie Hellwig was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had over her last 11 contests. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Jayden Rivas was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Emily Herrera was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Hanks lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 2-1 when they post two or more home runs.

Hanks' win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Pampa, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Hanks has already played their next matchup (against Hereford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Pampa, they will take on Socorro at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Harvesters' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season.
