Basketball Recap: Boca Ciega Sets Scoring Season-High Against Leesburg

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boca Ciega). They came out on top against the Leesburg Yellow Jackets by a score of 73-64 on Saturday.

Boca Ciega's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Brown, who went 11-for-19 en route to 23 points and three steals. Brown's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Neven Vukovic, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 21 points and seven rebounds.

Leesburg lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Angelo Moton, who went 8-for-17 to rack up 22 points along with five boards and four steals. He has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Javion Jenkins, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds.

Boca Ciega's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Leesburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Boca Ciega is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Seminole at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Leesburg, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Bishop Moore at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
