Softball Recap: Cambridge Comes Up Short

Cambridge extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-11 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wisconsin Heights Vanguards. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 27, 2021, but that streak is no more.

As for Wisconsin Heights, they now have a winning record of 7-6. The game was the first time they have beaten Cambridge on their field since May 2, 2019.

For Wisconsin Heights' part, Haley Wipperfurth was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs and one double. Those four hits gave Wipperfurth a new career-high. Mya Luko also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cambridge will face off against rival Belleville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Wisconsin Heights is set to square off against their familiar foe Waterloo at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
