Recap: Holcomb Longhorns vs. Colby Eagles
The Holcomb Longhorns lost against the Colby Eagles back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Holcomb lost to the Eagles at home by a decisive 58-41 margin. It was the first time this season that Holcomb let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Holcomb lost, one person who can't be blamed is Halle Jones. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points. Jones is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Deniston, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Holcomb's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4. As for Colby, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Holcomb will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hugoton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Longhorns are ranked 49th). As for Colby, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Norton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
