Basketball Recap: Richwoods Takes a Loss

Richwoods came up into this matchup off a tough 22-point defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Normal Community Ironmen by a score of 80-78 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (56), the Knights still had to take the loss.

This is the second loss in a row for Richwoods and nudges their season record down to 16-11. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points over those games. As for Normal Community, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.

Richwoods and Normal Community could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Richwoods will face off against Kankakee at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday down 106 places (135 vs. 29). Meanwhile, Normal Community (ranked 27th) will meet Principia (ranked fifth) at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
