Volleyball Recap: Island Coast Takes a Loss

Island Coast lost against Lehigh back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Gators took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lightning. The Gators' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Island Coast started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 25-16, 25-11, 25-22.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lehigh to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jocelyn Lopez, who had 23 assists and 19 digs. Those 23 assists gave Lopez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayda Fleming, who had 13 digs, 11 kills, and three aces.

Island Coast's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Lehigh, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-7.

Island Coast does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lehigh, they will square off against South Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
