Soccer Game Preview: Newaygo vs. Montague

The Newaygo Lions will face off against the Montague Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Montague took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Newaygo, who comes in off a win.

Newaygo is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They blew past Lakeview 9-1 on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Newaygo as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.

Meanwhile, Montague was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 8-2 to North Muskegon. While losing is never fun, Montague can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 408th, while North Muskegon are ranked 64th).

Newaygo's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4-3 and their overall record up to 7-6-4. As for Montague, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14-1.
