Football Recap: Providence Grove's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Providence Grove waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Thomasville Bulldogs 31-9. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Nick Straughn had a dynamite game, rushing for 196 yards and two scores while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Those 196 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Lawver, who threw for 100 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Providence Grove was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 212 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Providence Grove's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Chase Collins, Conner Haithcock, and Charles Villaggio, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Providence Grove's record is now 8-2. As for Thomasville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Providence Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Thomasville, they will host Chase at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
