Volleyball Recap: Julia Huffman and Marlee Pettine Secure Win for Riverside

Riverside had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Medina Battling Bees by a score of 3-1.

Riverside was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 21-25, 25-19, 25-20.

Leading Riverside to victory were Marlee Pettine and Julia Huffman. Pettine had 23 digs and two assists, while Huffman had five digs and two aces. Those two assists gave Pettine a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Medina lost, don't look at Leah McKinley. Despite the final result, she had 23 digs and eight assists. McKinley has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last ten times she's played.

Riverside's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Medina, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside will head out to challenge Villa Angela-St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Medina, they will venture away from home to square off against South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
