Basketball Game Preview: Berthoud Spartans vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions

Berthoud hasn't had much luck against Mountain View recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Berthoud Spartans will welcome the Mountain View Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Berthoud was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-49 to Greeley Central.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Mountain View's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Severance. The game marked the Mountain Lions' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Berthoud will have to keep a close watch on Dylan Garland and Cole Tonniges, a pair of players who had a big impact on Mountain View's prior game. Garland went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points along with six boards and three steals, while Tonniges posted eight points and six rebounds. Garland is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played.

Mountain View's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7. As for Berthoud, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
