Dobie won the last time they faced Dawson and things went their way on Monday too. The Dobie Longhorns blew past the Dawson Eagles 10-4. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
Vanessa De La Fuente spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Persephone Soria was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Alexis Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Soria wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Dobie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. Dobie is a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory made it two in a row for Dobie and bumps their season record up to 11-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Dawson, they now have a losing record of 8-9-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dobie will venture away from home to take on La Porte at 6:30 p.m. on March 25th. As for Dawson, they will head out to square off against Pasadena Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on March 25th.
