Baseball Game Preview: Oviedo Lions vs. Lake Howell Silverhawks

The Oviedo Lions will challenge the Lake Howell Silverhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Oviedo will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Oviedo turned things around against Seminole on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Seminoles.

Henry Alarcon tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Chase Negron was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Oviedo is 2-1 when Negron posts two or more runs, but 5-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Lau, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Lake Howell didn't have quite enough to beat Winter Springs on Friday and fell 2-1. The Silverhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lake Howell now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Oviedo, their win bumped their record up to 7-15.
