Softball Game Preview: Burr & Burton Bulldogs vs. Hartford Hurricanes

Burr & Burton hasn't had much luck against Hartford recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m.

Burr & Burton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Bellows Free Academy, who was ranked first at the time (Burr & Burton was ranked 11th). The Bulldogs came up short against the Bobwhites/Comets on Tuesday, falling 20-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Hartford was able to grind out a solid win over Fair Haven on Tuesday, taking the game 5-1.

Sylvia Johnson and Haley Maxham did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Maxham went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one double. Another player making a difference was Faith Brown, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Burr & Burton's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Hartford, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Burr & Burton couldn't quite get it done against Hartford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
