Recap: Apollo Eagles vs. Owensboro Red Devils

The Apollo Eagles struggled with assists on Friday (the Owensboro Red Devils had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Apollo took a serious blow against Owensboro, falling 69-34. Apollo has struggled against Owensboro recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Defeat or not, Apollo got some senior leadership from Jenna Dant and Jennifer Lee. Dant almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Lee. scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Shalyn Sprinkles was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with six steals for Owensboro. Sprinkles hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Heleina John, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Apollo has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Owensboro, they pushed their record up to 14-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apollo will take on Muhlenberg County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kentucky (Muhlenberg County is ranked 167th, while Apollo is ranked 186th). As for Owensboro, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Meade County at 1:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Owensboro is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season.
