Gate City dropped down to 4-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 42-21 to the Union Bears. The game was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Blue Devils couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Gate City lost, don't look at Walker Hillman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 144 yards and one touchdown.

As for Union, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 46.2 points this season.

Union's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keith Chandler, who rushed for 115 yards and three scores. Another player making a difference was Kam Bostic, who threw for 164 yards and one TD on only seven passes.

Looking ahead, Gate City will take on John Battle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils will be up against the Trojans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 47.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Union, they will face off against Ridgeview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Wolfpack have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
