Baseball Recap: McGregor Bulldogs vs. West Trojans
While it was McGregor who put the first points on the board on Tuesday, it was West who put up more. McGregor fell just short of West by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on March 4th.
Shaun Coleman was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Coleman was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Coleman wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Estepp, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Estepp a new career-high. Davion Coleman also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
McGregor's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-7. As for West, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5-1.
While McGregor had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
