Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

Mountain View is 8-1 against Roosevelt since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Mountain View Mountain Lions will host the Roosevelt Roughriders at 7:00 p.m. Mountain View has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Friday, Mountain View was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 73-69 to Thompson Valley. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (67), the Mountain Lions still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Mountain View got top-tier performance from Dylan Garland, who went 10 for 21 en route to 27 points and six steals. The contest was Garland's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Tyson Mares-Benz, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points along with five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Mountain View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt won against Northridge on Tuesday with 60 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Roosevelt came out on top against Greeley Central by a score of 60-52. The victory was familiar territory for the Roughriders who have now won three games in a row.

Mountain View's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points over those games. As for Roosevelt, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Mountain View beat Roosevelt 72-64 in their previous meeting back in January. Does Mountain View have another victory up their sleeve, or will Roosevelt turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
