Baseball Recap: South Ripley Has No Trouble Against Shawe Memorial

South Ripley's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers as they made off with an 11-1 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Raiders' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

The team relied heavily on Trevor Castner, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Trenton Smith also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

South Ripley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shawe Memorial struck out seven times.

With the victory, South Ripley broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-8. As for Shawe Memorial, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. South Ripley will head out to take on Switzerland County at 7:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Shawe Memorial, they will be playing at home against Rock Creek Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
