Basketball Recap: Southwestern Randolph Cougars vs. Wheatmore Warriors

Southwestern Randolph was the 51-24 winner over Wheatmore when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Southwestern Randolph Cougars took a 62-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wheatmore Warriors on Thursday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wheatmore had a senior duo take command as Finley Bryant went 6 of 11 en route to 20 points and Weston Driggers dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bryant has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Truman Auman, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Southwestern Randolph's record is now 5-10. As for Wheatmore, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwestern Randolph will head out to face off against Uwharrie Charter Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Wheatmore, they will venture away from home to square off against Providence Grove at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th.
