Softball Recap: Apple Valley Wins Going Away Against Washburn

The Apple Valley Eagles made easy work of the Washburn Millers on Wednesday and carried off a 7-1 win.

Keura Roloff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ginny Gores was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Brinley Gretz, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Apple Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Washburn, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apple Valley will face off against South St. Paul at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Packers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.06 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Washburn, they will challenge Kennedy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Millers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
