Softball Recap: Liberty Victorious

It was a proper cat-fight when Liberty challenged Boulder Creek on Thursday. The Lions skirted past the Jaguars 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won three in a row.

Mckinley Duce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Voilet Mitchell was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Calsyn, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Liberty's record now sits at 12-7. As for Boulder Creek, they dropped their record down to 14-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Liberty will challenge Pinnacle at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Boulder Creek, they will be playing at home against Camelback at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
