Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pickens). They put the hurt on the Berea Bulldogs with a sharp 12-1 victory on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Blue Flame considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Maddex Freeman looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Pickens let Preston Scott and Louis Martin run wild. Scott went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Martin scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Those two hits gave Scott a new career-high.
Pickens always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Pickens' win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Berea, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
