Basketball Recap: Pioneer's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Pioneer entered their contest against Artesia on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Pioneer Titans took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Artesia Pioneers. The match marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

CJ Okeke continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Artesia, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Okeke a new career-high in boards. Kobe Young was another key player, putting up six points.

Pioneer's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-5. As for Artesia, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.

Pioneer will welcome Segerstrom at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Pioneer is facing Segerstrom at the right time seeing as Segerstrom is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Artesia has already played their next contest, a 57-45 win against Whittier Christian on the 18th.
