Baseball Game Preview: Wawasee Warriors vs. Warsaw Tigers

Wawasee hasn't had much luck against Warsaw recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Warriors will face off against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m.

Wawasee is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They fell 5-0 to Concord.

Finley Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

Meanwhile, Warsaw had just enough and edged out Mishawaka 3-1 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Kellan Bailey was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Zac Miller tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Warsaw pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Wawasee, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Wawasee suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Warsaw in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
