Recap: Durant Cougars vs. Sumner Stingrays
The Durant Cougars and the Sumner Stingrays squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Durant Cougars had to settle for second. They received a tough blow as they fell 40-25 to the Stingrays. Durant was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sumner apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.
Despite the loss, Durant still got an impressive performance from Damari Styles, who picked up 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Greg Smith III continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sumner, throwing for 234 yards and five touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes. Malik Brown did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Durant's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for Sumner, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
Durant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sumner will be playing in front of their home fans against Plant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Plant will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
