Wayne was sadly handed a defeat on Monday, but Benjamin Smith did his best to prevent it. Smith turned in nothing short of a gem, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Coming up, Smith and Wayne will head out on the road to challenge Palmyra-Macedon at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sadly, Smith's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Eagles' five-game streak of wins on the road. With the streak broken, Smith and the Eagles surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Wednesday's match.
